[June 6] Monday, Lookout Mountain Day 10

this is an audio post - click to play
This is the last day of my blogspedition to Lookout Mountain. It has been a fantastic trip and I hope that David and I can do it again soon. If he decides to continue his hanggliding learning then we will probably have to go back to buy equipment. They are a nice bunch of people and they deserve to make a living.

[June 5] Sunday, Lookout Mountain Day 9

I posted three Quicktime Movies from the evening flight Sunday. All three pilots had good flights with good launches and landings. This trip has been a tremendous success for both David and Me. The Blogspedition part of was much more trouble than I thought it would be but watching David progress as a pilot sure was worth it.

I didn't post this one right away because There was no hanggliding. I however, did make an MP3 so the little extra effort to post it on the web seems like the right thing to do.

David's First Flight

David had his first high flight today and did a fantastic flight. I am now sitting on the launch area waiting for david to have his second great flight. It is actually soarable out there but new students are not allowed to soar. Matt thinks that we will probably be able to soar in about one hour. I suppose I can wait that long. I didn't tape all of David's flight because I was the wire man. I got some of it though.

Saturday, Lookout Mountain Day 8

David had 10 GREAT flights at the training hill this morning. It was too cloudy to launch from the mountain. About 2 PM we went up to the launch and there was one first time pilot setting up to fly so even though it was theoretically the heat of the day, we decided to set up also. The other pilot had a good flight but I wouldn't let David finish setting up because the sun had come out and I was concerned that it might become too bumpy. There will always be another time to fly. You can watch 9 of David's 10 morning flights. as a Quicktime movie. I also posted the other pilot's first Mountain flight.
I will have more later today.

[June 3] Friday Lookout Mountain Day 7

David had flights 3 and 4 of his tandems today. The wind is too strong over the back to even think about a flight off the mountain. There is a possibility of flying tomorrow morning if the wind and clouds cooperate. If not then perhaps tomorrow evening after 6 p.m.

As I said earlier, David has been cleared to jump off the mountain! I am a very proud father! This is the followup audioblog that I promised earlier.

Thursday, Lookout Mountain Day 6

David has been cleared to jump off the mountain! That of course assumes that he passes his written tests. He did really well today. He had 10 flights from the top of the big hill and I got all but one on tape. I will go ahead and post his videos now and follow up later with the audioblog (and more video if the wind switches and he flies the mountain. The video is:

Wednesday, Lookout Mountain Day 5

Today was a complete washout and there was no flying. Perhaps tomorrow morning will be better. I have posted three quicktime movies on my web site of David's flying progress. They are all less than 4 MB each. The links are:

Day 2 (Sunday)

Day 3 (Monday)

Day 4 (Tuesday)

I hope that you enjoy them.
Also I have the photos from Saturday posted on my .mac account and can be accessed from: http://homepage.mac.com/n5rqd/Soaring/PhotoAlbum6.html
I think I will Skip the audio blog for today since there is no flying at all.
